Landing pages

You know what they say, the first impression always matters. Well, the same thing goes for your website. Nowadays, having a great landing page is essential for your business, as it can influence essential aspects, like bounce rate, abandonment rate, ROI and the list could go on, but we don’t want to waste your time. After all, you’re here because you want to find out what can you do in order to have one of those awesome landing pages, right?

From the beginning, we must tell you that creating a great landing page is not an easy job, since there are a ton of components you should keep in mind, not to mention that you should also think about a few psychological aspects that make that user stay or leave.

Considering this, let’s make one thing clear: there’s no such thing as the perfect landing page or a secret recipe on how to attract buyers like a magnet. Still, over the time, we managed to gather some experience and we want to share some tips that will definitely help you in this process.

So, without much further ado, here are the essential elements you should have in mind when optimizing landing pages to increase conversion, lead generation, and sales.

  1. Have an attractive headline

Neil Patel likes to call it “killer headline”, claiming that this is where everything begins – interest, attention and understanding. And we kind of agree with him, since this is basically the first element that grabs any visitor’s attention.

The headline should be short and concise, accompanied by a subheading informing what the product or service is about, so that users who get on your landing page will immediately know what problem they can solve after buying from you.

  1. Images and videos can skyrocket your conversions

What better way to explain what you’re trying to sell than through a video? Make sure it’s no longer than one minute, as visitors can easily get bored and stop watching.

On the other side, let’s not forget about those who visit your website from a smartphone or simply find images more appealing. A few of them can work just as a video does!

  1. Present your benefits

I mean, come on! This is basically a no-brainer! Web visitors are not readers, they’re scanners, so don’t even think about writing stories about how great your product or service is. Instead, break down the benefits into bullet points, clearly explaining the value you’re providing.

  1. Describe what you’re trying to sell

We’re not saying that you should write a whole page about your product or service, but a few details about how it works and anything else that potential buyers should know are essential for a landing page.

Product description should be carefully arranged in the page, in order to be easy to read. If it’s accompanied by some images, it’s even better!

  1. Call to action!

It’s simple, it needs to stand out, since this is the main reason why you’re trying to optimize your landing page. Use buttons, links and colors that don’t resemble your design, in order to make them more noticeable. Oh, and your copy needs some attention as well. If you’re using a button, write something that can make even the biggest skeptic want to find out more on it.

  1. Testimonials

Even though online shopping is something normal, there are a lot of people out there that are still skeptical and fear of being scammed. A great way to gain their trust and boost your conversion rate is to show them what previous clients think about your company.

That’s right, we’re talking about testimonials. Ask previous clients to write about a few words about your business and post their opinions on your website, alongside their name and company, if they have one.

  1. Use trust badges

Nothing says “this place is trustworthy” more than seals from Verisign or TRUSTe and potential buyers won’t have any doubt about your business being 100% legit. Even more, you can also display logos of companies who you’ve previously worked with, in order to increase your trust.

What do you think about these tips? Are you already using them? If so, tell us if your conversion rate, lead generation and sales have improved after implementing them! If not, what on Earth are you still waiting
